What is Galactic Alignment and can it threaten our planet?

This is when the sun is in position between the earth and the "black hole" in the middle of the milky way galaxy (the milky was is the galaxy which our solar system is part of). Some think that when the sun lines up in this way, it will cause major problems in our solar system. There is talk about pole shifts, major earthquakes, solar flares... etc.

What many people don’t know is that the sun reaches this position every year around the same time, the time of the winter solstice in the northern hemisphere (when winter ends and summer starts). This event creates NO changes in gravitational pull, solar radiation, planetary orbits, or anything else that would impact life on Earth. It also will NOT, as some believe, bring about a change in the so-called evolution of humanity so that we transform into a higher form of existence or a higher level of consciousness. The people who suggest this are either deliberately deceiving or being deceived because they because what they are saying cannot backed up by the latest scientific evidence about our galaxy.
The "Galactic Alignment" in 2012 will not bring about major catastrophic disasters upon the earth nor will it bring about a change in our consciousness. It will most likely bring about great relief when, finally, the 2012 storytellers wake up on December 22 with egg on their faces. But it probably won't stop them and others making up more stories.
HELLO! The position of a large ball of gas 93 million miles away (the sun) is not going to affect our evolution (note: this site does not believe we evolved - evolution is a lie) or our consciousness. We are not going to become more (or less) developed, spiritually or otherwise, because a ball of gas in the sky changes position relative to the milky way galaxy (like it does every year).

What is a Pole Shift?

(1) One belief here is that the magnetic poles will suddenly change so that north becomes south and south becomes north. While there will be no sudden pole shift, apparently slow pole shifts do happen but they don’t cause any problems. Scientists from NASA say we are in the middle of a pole shift now but it will take thousands of years. The biggest effect will be that we will have to change our compasses in a few 100 years. At that time, our planets magnetic field around the earth will still be here and it will still protect us from solar storms from the sun.
(2) Another pole shift theory is that the earth’s surface will rotate around the core of the earth like an orange peel sliding around over the inner flesh of the orange. Please note that the scientists who suggest this might be possible, say that if it did happen, it would take millions of years!! [note: while we do not believe the earth is millions of years old, we accept that if there were to be a pole shift that current evidence suggests it will take a long long lonnnnnng time to happen]
What is planetary alignment and will it cause pole shift?

This is different to Galactic Alignment ALL the planets in our system will never align. Their orbiting cycles around the sun will not allow this to happen. Occasionally some of the planets will get into an uneven sort of line but this never has and never will cause catastrophes on earth. In 2000, Mars, Saturn, Mercury and Venus were within 50 degrees of each other. In June 13, 2010 Uranus, Jupiter and Mercury will be on one side of the sun and Venus, Mars, and Saturn on the other side of the sun. It will be no big deal. The idea that some kind of planetary alignment will cause disasters on the earth is simply bad astronomy (astronomy is the study of the stars).
Will a massive Solar Flare destroy the earth?

These solar flares are also the cause behind the beautiful northern lights (aurora).

Solar flares (large bursts of gas from the sun) happen all the time. Approximately every 11 years or so, the sun seems to have an extra large burst of activity. 2012 was thought to be the end of the next 11 cycle where sun spots would start to appear as the tell tale sign of extra solar activity - i.e. solar flares (which stay close to the surface of the sun) and coronal mass ejections (which can travel millions of miles out into space). However, NASA scientists have said recently that it looks like the next cycle will come around in 2013 and not 2012.
So all the talk about solar flares has nothing to do with any end of the world 2012 prophecy, it's just part of the normal cycle of the sun.
Secondly, if earth was affected by a massive solar flare it would not actually "destroy" the earth but it could cause massive problems for anything depending on electricity. We are more vulnerable now with our all the things we need electricity for than we (the people on earth) were in 1859 when a solar storm blew out telegraph wires in Europe and America.
The important thing to understand is that the worst things that happen from sun flares are that there may be some electrical blackouts (the biggest ever was in Canada in 1989) and loss of radio and satellite communication. In a worst case scenario, these could last for months or more but that is a worst case scenario.
Governments are now looking at ways to (1) build early warning systems that the earth may be affected by a solar flare and (2) have good back up systems should power grids be affected.
Now while there is no scientific evidence to suggest the world will be destroyed by a solar flare in 2012, there are prophecies in the Bible which say that end time judgments on the earth (and 2012 is NOT given in the Bible as a date for the end of the world) will include negative affects from the heat of the sun.
Revelation 16:8-9 "And they fourth poured out his bowl upon the sun; and it was given to it to burn men with fire. And men were burned with great heat; and the blasphemed the name of God Who has the authority over these plagues; and they did not repent to give Him glory."

Will a giant asteroid cause pole shift of destroy the earth?

The biggest asteroid spotted in recent times is named Apophis. However it is not coming on an end of the world December 21 2012 doomsday and is currently on a Level 0 on the Torino Scale (this scale shows the probability of an asteroid hitting earth). It will pass close in 2029 with a probability for impact on April 13, 2036 calculated at 1 in 45,000. So it will most certainly not be here in 2012 and the chances of it hitting us are extremely unlikely.
In 2012, scientists have high quality equipment for detecting and monitoring asteroids in our solar system. Any serious threat would quickly be announced in TV news, on the Internet and in local newspapers. Telescopes are not just owned by the governments but by individuals and there is therefore no way that a serious threat could be hidden from the public. So if there is a serious threat to humnity, you would find out pretty quickly.
If not by 2012 theories, will the world still come to an end?

Yes. The world will end because this is the final result of humanity rebelling against its creator. This is not about religion butabout a relationship – it always has been. The Bible outlines things this way… Humanity will continue to grow more and more rebellious against God (biting the hand that created it) and there will be increased godlessness and wickedness on the earth. You don’t need a Bible to believe these things are happening. You only need to read a newspaper.
God will allow humanity to suffer the full consequences of its own rebellion. This will come in the form of self inflicted wounds (war, crime, poverty, destruction of the ecosystem, breaking down of families… ) and wounds from nature including the heavens (because we messed with it and because God by his divine right and power will bring its forces against us).
People wanted freedom from being accountable to their creator so God will allow that freedom to run its full course. Some will heed the warning signs. Many will not. Tragically we read more than once in the book of Revelation in the Bible, “and still they would not repent”. The book of Revelation says that towards the end, that God will pour out his wrath on the earth in various ways (but not including a worldwide flood since he promised after the flood in Noah’s time that he would never destroy the world with a flood again – the rainbow being a sign of this promise). Before these final judgements on earth, God will remove his people from theearth (as he removed Noah and his family) through what is commonly called the “rapture”. After these judgements, the battle of Armageddon will take place.
All these events will usher in the final judgement beforethe great white throne of God. Up till this moment, people can still repent and believe the message of salvation through personal faith in the crucified and risen Jesus Christ (God in the flesh who paid for our sins on a cross).
The final judgement is described like this in Revelation chapter 20 and verse 12 (20 12) - “And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.”
The result of this judgement will be that some will be welcomed into eternal life in heaven while others are cast into eternal punishment in hell. After this, there will be a new heaven and a new earth. The wicked will suffer in hell forever but for those welcomed into heaven, there will be no more tears, suffering,sin, evil or death. Victory over these things will be complete. A new eternity living in right relationship with God will have begun, and it will continue forever. Praise God!

Questions about God's Judgement

Will a lie send you to hell?

Here's a question to consider: "how many lies do you need to tell to be a liar?" Answer: just one. Don't agree? How many murders would someone have to comit to be a murderer? Answer: just one? If I told you a lie (just one) what would you call me? Answer: a liar! And you'd be right.
The problem however isn't that we have only told just one lie in our lives. At a conservative estimate, based on just 5 a day, you will probably tell over 100,000 in 60 years of your life. That's just the lie itself, that's not considering for a moment all the hurt and damage done to possibly generations of others because of those lies.
And we haven't even considered other sins (see the list below but understand that this is not a complete list). What we need to understand it that we not only sin, but we are sinful. We have a sinful nature, that's why we sin. You don't have to teach children to be bad. Anyone know what I'm talking about here?
So let's not lie to ourselves any more about why God, who alone is holy, perfect, pure, righteous... will condemn sinners to hell on the day of judgement.
While one lie is actually enough to get you into hell since God is Holy and he will accept nothing unholy into heaven, you have done far more than lied just once. While you don't have to go there, in the sight of a Holy God, you thoroughly deserve hell.
Another thing we haven't mentioned yet is that God will not just judge you for your sinful actions; your failure do to good when you could have; every careless word you have ever spoken but the very thoughts and attitudes of your heart.
We will leave you with a verse from the Bible to consider:
"For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do. " (Hebrews 4:12-13)

I have done a lot of bad stuff in my life. Can God really forgive me?

Yes, the Bible says that God loved the WORLD so much he sent Jesus Christ to die and be raised to life so that people may be forgiven and have eternal life. It didn't say God sent Jesus to die for some of the people in the world, the ones who only did "small" sins.
When God the Father sent Jesus to die for the sins of the WORLD, God already knew what the WORLD was like. He has seen all the human atrocities that have ever happened. He sees all. And having seen all, he sent Jesus to die for ALL THE WORLD - so that includes you.
If you humble yourself before God, repent, and believe the Good News of Jesus death for your sin (and his glorious resurrection), the Bible says that God will forgive you. So take him at his Word and receive the forgiveness he is offering you, for ALL your sin.
The only thing God cannot and will not forgive you for is continual unbelief in him and what he has done to save you. In fact, the Bible says that the wrath of God abides over those who at this time do not believe (John 3:36). In other words, God's wrath is there, just wating to fall on the day of judgment. That's why now is the time to get right with God. After you die, it will be too late! You can get right with God today, right now.

You are just trying to scare people - this is nothing but fear mongering

If by this you mean warning people of the danger of hell, then yes, we are hoping that this will give people a healthy fear of the danger they are in. Fear is a legitimate factor in fleeing danger.
People will not flee danger till they see it.
A person will not leave a burning house until they aware ofthe danger they are in. Fear of being burnt will be the major factor in their quick retreat. Anyone who does not warn another of the danger theyare in, cannot be said to be a loving person. It is out of our love for people that we warn them of the danger of hell.
There is in fact something more than fear which we are seeking to encourage people to consider. What is it? It is the fact that they are guilty of sinning against God who alone is Holy. It is only because we have sinned againt God that we need fear his wrath, his judgement.
Many people believe they are a Good Person and do not understand that they have broken God’s moral laws and are therefore guilty and deserving of hispunishment. They are guilty according to God's standards. This is not the sort of thing you can afford to be wrong about. Why? The reason is that the Bible speaks of how the wicked will be: “tormented day and night forever and ever” (Rev. 20.10). and “the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever andever: and they have no rest day nor night” (Rev. 14:11).
What you have read so far is the bad news and we would be dishonest and unloving if we did not tell you this. However, there is good news.
The good news only makes sense when you understand the bad news. The good news is actually quite overwhelming when you stop to think about it, and you should. Though we are all so totally deserving of God's wrath (whether or not we have actually killed anyone or not), God has done something amazing to save us from that wrath. It's God's amazing grace.

Good Person Test is wrong - You don't get to heaven by being good.

You’re right, no one can keep God’s commandments perfectly. Sin is transgression of the Law and we have all sinned (Romans 3:23). There is no one good, no not one (Romans 3:10). This is why we need a Saviour.
However, many people believe in their own goodness (Proverbs 16:2) so we put the Good Person Test there to help people see themselves in truth through the eyes of God who alone is Holy and realize how far short they have fallen from his standards.
Our prayer is that, being convicted of their sin and seeing their need, they will humble themselves before God, repent and believe the Gospel.

What is the meaning of Life?

The meaning of life is, Life! That may sound strange but just think about it for amoment. You’re alive. And your life is very unique as a human being. You are not a rock or a tree or a blade of grass, speck of dust,star, dog or onion!!! You are a human being. And as a human, you are able to relate to other humans in a very unique way unlike any other thing (living or not) in the universe.
You can love and be loved, you have senses that you can enjoy (or abuse), a body that can do amazing things (except leap tall buildings) such as heal itself when it receives minor cuts and bruises and even a broken bone. While these many of these things are true about animals (except they do not love – rather they have instinct) there is something very special about humans.
Humans are spiritual beings. We are more than just flesh and blood. We have a soul. Wehave the capacity to relate to God!
This is the ultimate meaning of life: to have a relationship with God. To know him an enjoy him forever.
When God created mankind, Adam and Eve had a perfect relationship with God, each other and the world around them. There was no sin, suffering or death. When they sinned and disobeyed God by eating the fruit from the tree he told them not to, every thing changed. And because we sin too, things have not got any better. However….
The Bible says that Jesus came to give us life (John 10:10) and that we might have it to the full. He came to restore the broken relationship that was perfect in the beginning. His death on a cross paid the penalty for our sin against God so that all who repent of sin (a change of attitude to God, so that you admit that you are sinful and he as God is holy and right to judge you as deserving of hell) and believe the Good News (Jesus death for sinners) will be forgiven and receive the free gift of everlasting life.
You and I have broken God’s moral laws and in countless ways we have rebelled against our creator. God says in the Bible that the penalty for this is eternal damnation in hell. That may sound severe but (1) we ARE guilty and (2) we have sinned against GOD.
But the amazing thing is that even though we don’t deserve it, God has made it possible for our relationship with him to be restored. You can put it like this: we did the crime but Jesus Christ paid the fine. By repentance and faith, you can be forgiven and restored to true LIFE, life with God. The perfect life you were created for.
Jesus said, “I have come that you may have life, life to the full” (John 10:10). Do you have that life? If you died tonight, would you go to heaven or hell? What kind of people are signing up as members of this site?

We have people from mid teens to pensioners as members. We have people from different "religions" such as Buddhism, Islam, Hindu, New Age, Christian.... we also have atheists, agnostics, free thinkers and various others in between. Some declare their beliefs when they sign up, others do not. All are welcome as members as long as they don't do anything dumb, like spam, abuse etc.
We have been visited by over 200 different countries with over 105,000 visits in just 5 days.
What is the purpose of this website?

In Short, this site is here for two reasons
(1) To help people understand some of the myths, lies and bad science that is behind the theory of the world ending in 2012 and
(2) to give people the opportunity to consider something more fearful than the end of the world in 2012

Nothing to worry about says NASA.... the Sun is the only thing that may affect us but this is 2013 and not 2012 and there is no evidence to say it will affect us more than it usually does every 11 years when there is increased solar activity. There is the possibility of a once in every 100 to 200 year massive solar storm such as the one in 1859 which knocked out telegraph wires in Europe and America (see the FAQ answer on Solar Flares for more on this) but there is nothing to fear from galactic alignments, pole shifts or other planets.
