2012 Solar Flares Concern - Is there a problem?

Posted by End Of The World Predictions on December 18, 2012 at 9:05 PM

What are solar flares?

Solar flares happen when energy stored in the twisted magnetic fields of the sun is suddenly released causing an explosion of plasma shot up from the sun's surface.  This happens when the magnetic fields reconnect in active areas of the sun often seen as dark sun spots.  This is where magnetic fields are at their strongest.

A solar flare may last just a few minutes or several hours.  The energy from these solar flares is believed to be powerful enough to produce 100 billion atomic bombs and could power the entire United States for a million years!  But solar flares should not alarm us Because all this activity happens low down in the sun's corona (outer surface).

This burst of electromagnetic radiation produced from these solar flares includes radio waves, x-rays and gamma-rays.  Sometimes there will be a CME (see further down for explanation) associated with solar flares.  Solar Flares and CME's can happen together or separately.

X-class solar flares

Solar flares are classified according x-ray brightness in the wavelength range 1 to 8 Angstroms.

1.  X-class solar flares - major events: can trigger planet-wide radio blackouts and long-lasting radiation storms.

2.  M-class solar flares - medium events: can cause brief radio blackouts that affect Earth's Polar Regions.

3.  C-class solar flares - small events: these have hardly any noticeable effects on Earth.

What is a Solar Maximum Cycle?

Solar activity operates on an approximate 11 year cycle.  The sun is normally more active in the 11th year.  It was originally expected that a cycle would be completed in 2012.  This is why some were expecting extra large solar flares in 2012.

Coronal Mass Ejections - CMEs

Magnetic fields in the sun can heat the sun's gases to tens of thousands of degrees. This energy can explode rapidly out of the sun's corona (the unstable outer surface) at very high speeds ejecting up to 10 billion tons of ionised gas into the solar system at speeds of up to 2 million miles per hour.  These events are called coronal mass ejections (CMEs).  CMEs can take 2-3 days to reach earth and may happen once or twice a week, sometimes more.

The difference between solar flares and CME’s

CME’s are different to solar flares because the plasma actually lifts off from and leaves (is ejected from) the surface of the sun.  It is then carried by solar winds into the solar system and can be as big as the sun itself.  A CME can result in magnetic storms when its gasses interact with the Earth's magnetic field.  This distorts the shape of our magnetic field and speeds up the electrically charged particles that are trapped inside.

What are the potential dangers of CME’s for earth?

Coronal mass ejections can cause magnetic storms when they interact with the earth’s magnetic field.  You can see the effects in (1) an aurora - the northern lights seen at the North Pole – this depends on the sun’s magnetic configuration at the time, and (2) damage to ground based technology, disrupted radio communication, damage to satellites, localised blackouts due to an electrical grid going down and mild radiation for astronauts in the affected zone.

Blackouts can have serious consequences and it could take months to get a citywide electrical grid working again.  It is not hard to imagine that chaos that could result when are large poplulated area is suddenly without electricity for a long period of time.

Examples of CME’s hitting earth and their effect

One such blackout was on March 13, 1989 when Quebec in Canada experienced a nine hour blackout.   In November 4, 2003 a CME associated with the X Class solar flare estimated to be an X45, left the sun traveling at 2300 kilometres per Second (8.2 million km/h).  It was so powerful that it overloaded the sensors measuring it.  Its effect on the planet was minimal because the full blast of the CME was directed away from the earth.  But there was potential to do significant harm if we got a direct hit.

Is earth in danger at this time?

December 21, 2012

Based on the present activity of the sun, NO, we are NOT in any expected danger for December 21, 2012 or anywhere near that date.  There are two reasons why we should not expect extra large solar flares or coronal mass ejections in 2012 (and especially on December 21, 2012).

1.…. The next solar maximum cycle that produces these extra large flares and CMEs, is not going to happen till around May 2013!  Some are now even saying 2014

2….In May 2013 when the sun is expecte to reach its highest level of activity in its most recent 11 year solar cycle, it is predicted that the sun will have the lowest number of sunspots (which cause solar flares)  since 1928!  So while solar activity may peak as many expect around May 2013, it’s not going to be a biggie!

Shields up Scotty!

OK, so if you’ve never seen the original Star Trek, the heading for this section won’t mean anything.  Moving on…  Even if an extra large CME did come our way, we are protected by our magnetosphere, ionosphere and atmosphere from serious harm.  Well, we have been protected for a long time but the shields are no longer at 100%.  Here’s why…

In December 2008, NASA discovered a breach (a hole) in these shields. This makes it possible for charged solar winds to build up their presence and load the earth’s magnetosphere for a sizeable magnetic storm.

However, in our favour, with the advancement of technology, warning systems are now being put in place so that vulnerable electrical grids can be shut down till the danger is over.

2012 Pole Shift

Posted by End Of The World Predictions on December 18, 2012 at 1:05 AM

What is a Pole Shift?  What causes it?  Are we in danger?

There are two main theories.

1.  One belief here is that the earth’s MAGNETIC north and south poles (not the physical north and south poles) will suddenly change position so that north becomes south and south becomes north.  While scientists say there will be no SUDDEN magnetic pole shift, they do believe that slow magnetic pole shifts do happen.  However, they also say that a change in the position of the magnetic force field surrounding the earth will not cause any catastrophes on earth.   They believe magnetic pole shifts happen because of the movement of the molten iron in the earth’s core.

Scientists from NASA say magnetic pole shifts have happened before and that we are in the middle of a magnetic pole shift now - but it will take 1,000 to 10,000 years to complete.  What will happen as a result of this magnetic pole shift?  The biggest effect will be that we will have to change our compasses in a few 100 years.  At that time, our planets magnetic field around the earth will still be here and it will still protect us from solar storms from the sun.

2.  Another pole shift theory is that the earth’s outer surface will rotate around the core of the earth – a rapid shift in the physical locations of the north and south poles.  Charles Hapgood suggested this could happen if there was an extra build up of ice on one or both of the poles and that this could cause the outer surface of the earth to slip over its outer core like an orange peel sliding around over the inner flesh of the orange.

Hapgood wrote about this in his books, The Earth’s Shifting Crust (1958 ) and Path Of The Pole (1970).  However, Hapgood later agreed with Albert Einstein that the weight of the polar ice would not be enough to cause polar shift.  Even though he couldn’t prove it, he then said that it would be forces below the earth’s surface that could cause a pole shift.

Later, Richard W. Noone one wrote "5/5/2000, ICE: The Ultimate Disaster".  In it he said that there would be a cataclysmic shift of the Antarctica ice cap caused by planetary alignment.  This would result in solar storms an there would be a shifting of the earth’s outer crust on May 5 2000.  I never happened.

Edgar Cayce predicted a sudden magnetic pole shift in the 1997-1998 winter. For this to happen suddenly it would require an enormous amount of energy to go against the spin of the earth on it's axis - as it spins like a gyroscope.  And, it would result in large scale disturbances of the earth's crust as well as it's oceans resulting in world wide tidal waves (not just a tsunami) volcanic and tectnoic activity (ie. earthquakes).  There was no sudden pole shift at this time!

Scientists now believe that something called true polar wander may have happened in the past.  They say that the earth’s poles have wondered up to 30 degrees before but there that there has never been a sudden pole shift.  They believe that at these times, when the poles may have wondered, it would have been as slow as 1 degree every million years!  [note: while we do not believe the earth is millions of years old, we accept that if there were to be a pole shift that current evidence suggests it will take a long long lonnnnnng time to happen]

So if there was to be a physical pole shift, current scientific thinking on this is that it would not happen suddenly.  Not even with a partial planetary alignment (there has never been a fully planetary alignment – see our blog on planetary alignment).   But what about Nibiru?  Could the arrival of Nibiru cause a pole shift?  No!  Nibiru doesn’t exist. See our earlier blog on this.

2012 Galactic Alignment

Posted by End Of The World Predictions on December 16, 2012 at 12:45 AM

Will Galactic Alignment cause the earth to experience natural disasters like tsunamis, earthquakes, volcanoes, asteroid collision or maybe even a pole shift!  Could a sudden galactic alignment on December 21, 2012 cause the earth be sucked into the black hole at the centre of the Milky Way galaxy through extra gravitational forces?

Before answering these questions it’s important to understand that there are two kinds of galactic alignment which people have been speaking of when talking about a December 21, 2012 end of the world doomsday.  These two kinds of galactic alignment are explained just below (numbers 1 and 2) in simple and non-scientific words.

(1)    Our sun lines up between the earth and the centre of the Milky Way galaxy

(2)    Our solar system lines up with the center of the Milky Way galaxy

Let’s have a closer look at these two kinds of galactic alignment and see if there is anything we should be worried about.

Galactic Alignment – Type I

It is claimed that on December 21, 2012, there will be a galactic alignment when the sun rises above the horizon on this date.  The claim is that at this time, the sun will be in alignment between the earth and the center of the Milky Way galaxy.  This is in fact true!   Will it cause catastrophes on earth?  We will look at that in a moment.  What is also true is that this kind of galactic alignment (an alignment of cosmic bodies in our galaxy) happens every year at the time of the winter solstice (when winter starts turning towards summer) in the Northern hemisphere (for countries nearer the North Pole).

So, how does a solstice work?  The word “solstice” comes from two Latin words: sol = sun, and sistere = stand still.  A solstice is when the sun appears to stand still (when looking at it from the earth).  It ‘stands still’ before appearing to reverse its direction from being further away from earth (which brings the winter season) to being closer to the earth (which brings the summer season).   It’s not actually the sun that moves, but rather the way the earth is tipped on its axis away from the sun (bringing winter) or towards the sun (bringing summer).

So, December 21, is the day of the winter solstice for the Northern hemisphere in 2012.  But guess what?  There is also a good chance that it will be the date of the winter solstice in the Northern hemisphere in 2013, 2014, 2015…. This is because the winter solstice in the Northern hemisphere happens around December 20-23 EVERY YEAR!

Hopefully you can see from this that this kind of galactic alignment is not going to cause any problems.  It’s just the earth spinning on it’s axis as it does every year bringing the seasonal changes.  It has nothing to do with the movement of the sun or other cosmic forces in the universe. Rather, it happens because this is the time when the earth’s North Pole is tipped furthest from the sun before it starts to tip towards the sun.  In other words, winter is about to turn to summer for those countries closer to the North Pole!

Another point worth thinking about is that on December 21, 2012 the sun is actually 6.6 degrees north of the galactic centre so it is not even perfectly lined up at this time.  On top of that, in 2012 the sun is actually more closely aligned with the galactic centre about two days before December 21!

So it’s all just a lot of hype over something that happens every year when winter turns towards summer in the northern hemisphere.  It’s nothing to worry about.

Galactic Alignment – Type II

Before explaining the second type of galactic alignment, we need to have a closer look at our solar system which our solar system is a part of.

First of all, our galaxy, called the Milky Way, is a spiral galaxy made up of 200-400 billion stars.  It is believed to be travelling through space at a speed of around 1.3 million miles per hour.  That’s fast!  There are more stars in the centre of this galaxy than at the outer edges.  The center is also is thicker than the outer edges making it bulge.  It would take about 100,000 years travelling at the speed of light to get from one side of the Milky Way to the other.

Secondly, our solar system with its sun and 8 planets (some planets, like the earth, have moons) is part of the Milky Way galaxy along with many other solar systems.   Our solar system is around 28,000 light years from the centre of the Milky Way galaxy; this puts it just over half way between the centre and the edge.

Now, here’s where it gets just a little bit tricky.  I’m going to try and explain this second type of galactic alignment.  If you don’t ‘get it’ straight away, hold on for the pizza explanation :)

Here goes… Just like the Milky Way galaxy is moving through the universe, our solar system is believed to move around the centre of the Milky Way galaxy around every 225 million years.  At the same time as it moves around the galaxy, it is also believed to be moving move in an up and down motion.  Scientists believe that because of this up and down motion, that around every 33 million years (not light years but ordinary years) the centre of our solar system lines up with the plane of the galactic centre.  You’re lost right!  OK, pizza to the rescue.

Imagine the Milky Way galaxy is a meat lover’s pizza with extra toppings in the middle.  Now imagine that our solar system is a piece of meat half way between the centre and the edge.  I know, it’s a big pizza.  Now imagine that this piece of meat (our solar system) is moving up and down on the pizza as the pizza cooks.  So if you were looking at the pizza side on (from the edge to the centre) you would sometimes see this piece of meat (our solar system) sitting just on top of the cheese.  Other times it would look as if it was coming out of the bottom of the pizza. And sometimes, you wouldn’t be able to see it at all because it was exactly lined up between the edge and the centre of the pizza.

That flat straight line (or plane) between the EDGE of the pizza and the CENTRE of the pizza is like the flat plane of the Milky Way galaxy – which is called the galactic plane (sometimes the galactic equator or dark rift – dark rift since there are more stars in this central area).

As I said before,  scientists believe that our solar system moves above and below this galactic plane (like the meat on the pizza).  So that means that sometimes our solar system is above the galactic plane, sometimes it’s below the galactic plane and SOMETIMES it’s perfectly lined up between the edge of the galaxy and the black hole in the centre: this is the second type of galactic alignment.

So, will there be a Galactic Alignment of this type on December 21, 2012.  And if so, will this cause any extra gravitational force on the earth that might create natural disasters or suck the earth into the black hole in the centre of the Milky Way galaxy?   The answer is no, for two reasons.

First, according to the journal Nature (and many other scientific journals) the earth has already (recently) crossed the plane of the galactic centre and is not due to do this again for another 30 million years!   Now while I don’t believe the earth is millions of years old the point is that a galactic alignment of this type is believed to have already happened and will not be happening again anytime soon!

Secondly, gravitational forces do not increase when the sun is in alignment with the galactic centre.  The strongest gravitational force affecting the earth is the sun which is 93 million miles from the earth.  And even though there is a stronger gravitational force coming from the black hole in the centre of the Milky Way galaxy, that force is an amazing 165 QUADRILLION miles from the earth.

So any slight movement by the earth that far away from the Milky Way’s black hole, is not going to cause us any problems.  Hopefully this blog has answered your questions about whether the earth is in danger of any kind of galactic alignment.

Is Nibiru Coming in 2012?

Posted by End Of The World Predictions on December 14, 2012 at 4:45 AM

Will a planet called Nibiru bring about the end of the world on December 21, 2012?  Let's start by looking at where this idea of the world being destroyed by a planet came from.

The stories being told about Nibiru (sometimes called Planet-X) were first spread by a man called Zecharia Sitchin.  Sitchin, who died on October 9, 2010, said that he could understand the ancient writings and drawings of the Sumerian people who lived a long, long time ago.

Sitchin believed that the Sumerian people spoke of a 12th planet in our solar system and in 1976 he wrote a book called The 12th Planet.  Sitchin got his total of twelve (not 8 which is what we actually have) because he says the Sumerians  counted the sun and moon as planets and because Sitchin also included Pluto as a planet.   Plus one more: Nibiru.

But as the Sumerians did not have telescops to know this information about our solar system how did they find out?  Sitchen says it is because they were given this  knowledge by ancient aliens who visited our planet a long time ago.  He also says that these aliens (whom he calls ancient astronauts - or space travellers) created the Sumerian people!

Here's a good question... if these aliens were so smart that they could travel between solar systems and maybe even galaxies, and if they knew about a 12th planet in our solar system, and they shared this information with the Sumerians long ago, then how come they weren't smart enough to know the difference between a sun and a planet!

We actually only have 8 planets in our solar system (the sun and moon of course are not planets so that brings Zecharia Sitchin’s the total of 12 down to 10).  Scientists no longer consider Pluto a planet (which brings the total down to 9).  And, as we will see shortly, Nibiru doesn’t exist  (which brings the total down to 8 ).   So that leaves: Mercury (closest to the sun); Venus; Earth; Mars; Jupiter; Saturn; Uranus and Neptune.

Anyway, Sitchin believed that Nibiru had an orbit around the sun that went way out past Neptune at the edge of our solar system.  He believed that because its elliptical orbit was so large, it only passed near earth every 3,600 years….

An elliptical shape is a bit like an egg, not exactly round.  Sitchen believed that during part of it's eliptical orbit or journey around the sun, Nibiru would go way out past the last planet in our solar system... then, it would pass through the solar system coming close to the earth.

Soooo, where did the idea that Nibiru would arrive on December 21, 2012 come from?

It started when Zecharia Sitchin had originally put forth the idea that Nibiru and an alien race called the Anunnaki would come back to earth sometime this century.

Not long after Sitchin said this, Nancy Lieder (who believed she was getting messages from aliens) said that aliens had warned her that the Earth was in danger from Nibiru’s return around May 2003.  Nothing happened!  The date was then changed to 2012.  It’s wasn’t long after that that some people suggested the Mayan long count calendar ended on December 21, 2012 because the Mayans knew that Nibiru was coming.

[I personally believe that Nancy Lieder was either influenced by, drugs, demons or was mentally ill – she is in good company with Terrance McKenna who predicted in 1992 that the end of the world would come at precisely 6am on December 21, 2012.  How did he know this?  The message, he said, came through the use of hallucinogenic substances (drugs) such as LSD and magic mushrooms!!  He thought that the spores in the mushrooms contained messages left by aliens – yeah right!]

Was Sitchin right or wrong?   Is Nibiru coming?  Well, you can prove that for yourself right now.

If Nibiru was going to pass by so close to the earth on December 21, 2012 that it would either hit the earth or cause natural disasters by its gravitational force, you would be able to see it now!  And you wouldn’t need a telescope.   Nibiru would be so close that you would practically be able to poke your head outside the door of your house and see Nibiru in the sky with your naked eye, just like you can see the moon.

Could it be hiding behind the sun?  Well, yes, the sun would be big enough to hide a planet.  But if Nibiru was a moving planet on an orbit as it is supposed to be, it would have been seen well before it moved behind the sun.   It would also be moving at its fastest so it wouldn’t be behind the sun for long.  Thousands of people on earth have telescopes that can see further away than the sun so they would have been able to see a sneaky planet travel through our solar system and then hide behind the sun.  No one has reported seeing this happen because, it didn’t happen!  Nibiru can’t be seen because it doesn’t exist.

If scientists can see Pluto on the outer edge of our solar system, they would not have any problems seeing a planet that Sitchin says is five times bigger than Pluto!  Especially if it is going to pass us by in a few days.  Nibiru is nonsense, a myth, false, fake, a hoax and completely untrue.  Don’t believe it.  This means that if Nibiru doesn't exist, then it's not going to be causing catastrophic world wide destruction through a pole shift, earthquake or other natural disasters.

Does all this mean that the earth will never be under threat from anything big out there in space?  No! The following prophecy needs to be taken seriously.  Obviously, it’s not from Nostradamus.  The prophecy says, “Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken” (Matthew 24:29)

2012 - Mayan Calendar, Nostradamus, Planetary Alignment

Posted by End Of The World Predictions on December 13, 2012 at 2:30 AM

This blog looks at three December 21, 2012 doomsday ideas.  I'll try and keep it simple otherwise I won't understand what I'm talking about.

1.  What is the Mayan Calendar 2012 doomsday prophecy?

What you need to understand about this is that...

(a) There is no doomsday prophecy on the Mayan calendar.  The Mayan’s long count calendar ends on December 21, 2012 (some think it may actually be Dec. 23) and that’s it.  No prophecy.   Even the Mayan’s don’t believe there is a doomsday prophecy.  More than that, they are quite miffed at those who say there is.   At the most, for the Mayans, the long count calendar is a time for renewal for the whole of the earth.   They see mankind as being a key agent in bringing about that renewal and speak of mankind’s great responsibility to care for the planet it has been gifted with.

(b) It’s just a calendar. When our calendar ends, we put up a new one. When the Mayan long count Calendar ends, they start a new one.  That's what you do when your calendar comes to an end.  The main difference is that if you’re a Mayan and you put up the first long count calendar, you won’t be putting up the next one:  that’s because the Mayan long count calendar goes for 5,125 years!

2.  Did Nostradamus predict a 2012 doomsday?

No!  It’s strange that talk of a Nostradamus 2012 doomsday didn’t start until AFTER people came up with the idea the world would end on December 21, 2012 which is when the Mayan calendar ends.  Sounds like some Nostradamus fans trying to cook up an apocalyptic storm for their hero.

Here’s some more interesting info on Nostradamus and 2012.  Apparently, the dates 21.12.12 and 12.21.12 are NOT found in Nostradamus writings?   OOPS!  But there’s more…

Nostradamus was believed to have predicted the earth would end by a comet strike in JULY 1999.  Didn't happen!   It gets worse….

In a letter to his son, Nostradamus spoke of prophecies that went as far into the future as 3786 (3797 according to some experts)?  Um, that’s almost two times 2012.  So, did Nostradamus predict a December 21, 2012 doomsday?  No!  But his fans did.  Just like they did with 9/11; made up by a university student to prove a point.  What was the point?  That Nostradamus’s four line rhyming quatrains could be made to say anything!

3.  Will planetary alignment cause pole shift or other disasters?

This is different to Galactic Alignment.  Planetary alignment is the idea that all planets will line up on one side of the sun.  Some say that this will created a massive gravitational force causing all kinds of natural disasters on the earth like earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanic activity etc…

The only problem with this idea of planetary alignment is that ALL the planets in our system will never line up with each other to form a straight line on one side of the Sun, even a line going from one side to the other.   The reason is that the planets have different orbiting cycles around the sun making an alignment like this impossible to happen.   Occasionally a few of the planets (that’s not all but just a few) will get into an uneven kind of of line but this never has and never will cause catastrophes on earth.

In 2000, Mars, Saturn, Mercury and Venus were within 50 degrees of each other.   But that’s not a straight line and it’s only four planets.  In June 13, 2010 Uranus, Jupiter and Mercury were on one side of the sun and Venus, Mars, and Saturn were on the other, not in a straight line.  Nothing happened.   And most people would not have even known about the position of these planets at this time.  The idea that some kind of planetary alignment will cause disasters on the earth is simply bad astronomy (astronomy is the study of the stars).

The fact is that the gravitational pull of these planets is about 30 millionths the gravitational pull of the sun – in other words, nothing worth stressing over!

The Next blog will look at Nibiru, Galactic alignment and Solar Flares

Confessions of a 2012 Doomsday Webmaster - 1/2

Posted by End Of The World Predictions on December 8, 2012 at 6:05 AM

This 2012 website makes me sick – Well, sometimes it does!  There have been times when the pressure has been so great to finish a project that I have had to burn the midnight oil for days on end.  As a result I have got myself run down, and then (because of this) sick. This has happened three times during 2012 and resulted in me having to take time off work on each occasion.  It took 25 hours one weekend to make the most recent 2012 End Of The World video, not counting the promotion of it.  I crashed and burned the next day like a giant asteroid hitting the earth.  Alright, that was a bit of an exaggeration, but you get the point.

Having a normal 40 hour a week day job as well as this 2012 website project means that I have to steel time wherever I can get it.  And it has taken a lot of time over the last five years: thousands of hours.  That said, I can honestly say that it’s all been worth it and I would do it again.   But I think I’ll take a break first.

Hate Mail – I have come to the conclusion that there are a lot of sicko’s out there just needing a cause to attack so they can get some kind of cathartic release by spewing up vile, hate fueled language into someone’s unsuspecting face.   I will not repeat anywhere, the kind of language that I have encountered.   I will also not let this kind of attitude drag me down.   The real challenge has been that sometimes, in the midst of the vulgarities, there is actually a comment that has some genuine content in it which would benefit me to listen to.

So when I have replied (I didn’t always), I’ve tried to be objective and to acknowledge legitimate points no matter how they were vomited out.  As I have done this, I have tried to focus on a proverb from the Bible that says, “A quite answer stills anger”.   You may think, why waste your time and believe me I’ve asked myself the same question. Sometimes it has been exactly that: a waste of time.  On other occasions, it has brought the most unexpected, humble and sincere apology and has been followed by some constructive and friendly conversation.   So you never know when you’re going to make a difference.

DOS  ATTACK – there have been times when the Internet Server for the website hosting company I use for the 2012 site has gone down.  Not good.  It means that nobody can access the 2012 website.  This is because the host’s server has been deliberately overloaded by a DOS (Denial of Service) attack through some very nasty people.   I don’t like those people.  At times this has resulted in the loss of thousands of visits. More than once, this has happened at the exact time that I had just launched a big promotion for the 2012 website – Grrrrrr.

The first time the host’s server went down and I couldn’t access ANY of my websites, I sent my web host a very strong message telling them to get their act together as their poor service was costing me.   I then found out that on that occasion some contractors on a construction site had cut the main server cable and it had nothing to do with the web host!  I got it wrong by making an assumption and being too focused on justice, for me.

Misunderstood – This one really irritates me.  You work hard to outline the 2012 predictions and explain them for what they are: false predictions based on lies, myths and bad science.  Then you get emails accusing you of saying that the world is going to end!  I haven’t figured this out completely yet but I do know that one of the reasons is that people simply don’t take the time to read the information you wore yourself out putting together.  Lazy?  Possibly?  People wanting more videos and not text?  Maybe?

Sometimes it's because people have misread something (because they were a young person or poorly educated or English was not their primary language – I take my hat off to those who know more than one language).  For others, it was because they had come with a preconceived idea of what the site might was about.  In both situations, people were generally quite thankful if you took the time to explain with a gentle answer.  Patience goes a long way. So does accepting that what may be clear to you, may not be clear to others.

A Good Confession – If it were not for the support of my wonderful wife, my family, my friends and some Facebook friends (but especially my wife and some close friends and family) the 2012 site could not possibly have gone as far as it has.  My wife at times has taken up the extra work load in our home and encouraged me to see a project through to the end (often because this was with a weekend deadline).   She has been behind this project all the way.

We have also received financial gifts from people whom I know wish to remain anonymous. If not for these people I could not have done any of the videos (ok, so one or two I really wish I hadn’t done because they were so bad) and I could not have advertised through Facebook.   This last month, was the first time in five years that I have spent money on advertising (for one video and the 2012 website).  I have done this to help the site to finish well as we head to the finish line on December 21, 2012. I hope you'll join me and drop links to the site all over the Internet along the way.

What happens to this website after December 21, 2012?  That's a good question.  I thnk this will be the subject of perhaps my last blog.

My next blog will have five more confessions from a 2012 Doomsday Webmaster. One of those is entitled, “The Thin Red Line”.  This will be out in about 5 days.   See you then.  :)

Government Conspiracy about a 2012 doomsday

Posted by End Of The World Predictions on October 22, 2012 at 2:50 AM

Some end of the world conspiracy theories suggest that governments are hiding information about an impending 2012 doomsday; a worldwide cataclysm of biblical proportions that would bring about death and destruction on a global scale!   Is this right?  Is there a 2012 doomsday government conspiracy?

As I did some research on this, I have ended up getting into some pretty dark matter such as a New World Order and the Mark of the Beast.  But let’s start with a 2012 doomsday government conspiracy.  You can click a link at the end of the blog for the rest.

What exactly are governments doing which is raising all these conspiracy alarm bells?  Do their actions clearly point to a conspiracy?  And should you be concerned about what they are doing?

Here’s is a brief list of government actions which some see as evidence of a 2012 doomsday conspiracy… and more.  At first glance these actions don’t actually seem all that insidious.  Rather, they appear quite innocent and practical, especially if the goal is the preservation of the human race in the wake of a worldwide disaster.

Check them out and see what you think…

1. LARGE STOCK PILES of food rations, personal items and blankets.  This seems quite harmless especially as recent natural disasters have shown clearly the need to be prepared in this area.

2. COFFINS!  Yes, coffins.  Before some of the coffins were moved, a field outside of just one city in America had at one time, around 500,000 of these polymer coffins.  Each coffin was capable of containing more than one person.  So that means the coffins in just one area could be used to burry 1 million people… or more.

Clearly, in a natural disaster, there is a need to bury the dead quickly and hygienically to prevent the spread of disease and more deaths.  This would also be true in case of death through an epidemic or biological warfare.    On September 28, the American congress passed the H. R. 6566 bill or the Mass Fatality Planning and Religious Considerations Act, which gives a mandate to FEMA to prepare for mass fatalities.   Is there a connection?  What are they expecting?

3. UNDERGROUND BUNKERS!  Governments are building underground bunkers.  These are not temporary bunkers which have been in existence for decades.  For example, Switzerland has enough temporary nuclear shelters for the entire population and Russia has recently commissioned 5,000 temporary bunkers for Moscow (which currently has enough bunkers for 50% of the population).

It is believed however that these new bunkers are to protect and sustain human (and animal?) life on earth, long term, in the event of some kind of apocalyptic disaster.  These new bunkers are virtual underground communities which would have their own sewage systems, renewable fuel, food and power supplies, security AND government!  It’s not all that hard to believe since underground railways, malls, etc have been here for a while.  The main difference being that they are not designed for long term living or protection from cataclysmic events.

It quickly becomes obvious that only a select few, the chosen elite, would be privileged enough to be given a space inside one of these more advanced bunkers.  After all, no government could provide this kind of long term underground home for the whole population.

If you’re skeptical about whether this is actually happening, then consider this: private companies are already openly selling spaces in secure underground bunkers.  Applicants are being sought now and only those meeting certain undisclosed criteria (one of which is sure to be lots of cash) will be accepted.   These companies have been getting some good mileage from 2012 doomsday predictions and even have end of the world 2012 videos on their websites.

4. LARGE (DETENTION?) CAMPS out in the middle of nowhere such as those established by FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency – a US Government agency).  Are these temporary refugee camps or, as some believe, potential detention centres.  The design of some (with barbed wire fences and other security measures), would suggest that in some cases, the latter was in mind.   And if they are detention centres, are they for the enemy without or the enemy within – ie. their own citizens… a place to ‘process’ dissidents of a New World Order perhaps?

5. SEED VAULTS.  Over an 18 month period, a huge seed bank was built deep inside a frozen mountain near the North Pole.  Apparently it contains millions of seeds from all over the world.   The speed at which this was built by a number of collaborating countries has led some to speculate that a worldwide catastrophe is imminent and that governments know about this.

One private company is boasting a nuclear blast-proof, underground cryovault to preserve the seeds of humanity!  The vault is built to survive the next “life-extinction” event.  It is said to be part of a global network of underground shelters for up to 1,000 people per shelter.

6. NEO DEFENSE SYSTEMS.  The White House has considered plans to establish an international defense system in consultation with militaries and governments around the world.  This would be for the purpose of deflecting NEO’s (Near Earth Objects) such as asteroids and comets.

To read my thoughts on where I think these government actions might be leading, which will cover things like: a declasified government document that speaks of deliberately culling the world's population; subtle forms of bio-warfare; the RFID microchip; a New World Order; mark of the beast and more ...  CLICK HERE.

I-Ching, 2012, Time Wave Zero, end of the world!

Posted by End Of The World Predictions on August 25, 2012 at 8:30 AM

I-Ching, known as the Book of Changes, has in it a system of divination thought by some to be the oldest system of divination.    In more recent times, the I-Ching has been interpreted as a system of cosmology (study of universe, time and space) and of philosophy (love for and pursuit of wisdom).

The I-Ching is now used in two ways: (1) as a source of wisdom concerning cosmic principles and also of life in general and (2) as a source of fortune or oracle telling used largely by those who are without a higher education.   Chinese scholars make very little reference to I-Ching in their writings and are more inclined to the teachings of Confucius.

So what is the I-Ching and how does it work.  The I-Ching contains a series of 64 hexagrams that are said to represent 64 different life themes.  The idea behind using the I-Ching as a book of divination is that all events are interconnected to each other in some way.  The divination process for finding help from the I-Ching is to throw some coins on a table and this will give you wisdom for the life journey you are on.  By throwing the coins you are said to create an event that is in sync with what you are going through at the time and this leads to a corresponding hexagram in the I-Ching that will give you the wisdom you need for your life situation.

Some of you will immediately realize the foolishness of trying to get wisdom to help your through your journey in life by the toss of a coin.  And you would be right if you were thinking that this sounds just like tarot cards, reading the stars, Ouija boards and other demonic methods for looking into the future which are strictly forbidden in the Bible and lead to God’s condemnation (Deuteronomy).

OK, so you’re still wondering, “Does the I-Ching actually predict the end of the world on December 21, 2012?”  Answer: NO!   The I-Ching is used as a method of fortune telling and does not appear to include specific predictions about specific events happening on specific dates for specific people.  So where did the idea of an I-Ching prediction about the end of the world come from and could it still be true?

Enter Terrance McKenna.

Terrance McKenna believes that the I-Ching is not merely a book of wisdom or a source of general fortune telling but that it also shows that the specific date of December 21, 2012 will be the end of the world.   He bases this on his own I-Ching Time Wave theory.  Originally, he got the result of November 2012 but changed this to December 21, 2012 to agree with the Mayan calendar.   The Mayan 5,125yr long count calendar began in 3113BC (the time the Mayan civilization began) and ends on December 21, 2012.  Some, (not the Mayans) believe the Mayan calendar predicts the end of the world.

Who is Terrance McKenna and how does he come to this conclusion?  McKenna sees himself, among other things, as a pyschonaut.   Yep, a psychonaut!  That’s a psychonaut not a psychonut.  A psychonaut explores altered states of consciousness brought about by meditation and, hallucinogenic substances such as LSD and magic mushrooms!!   He even wrote a book called “Psilocybin - Magic Mushroom Grower's Guide”.   This should be a big clue as to whether his teachings should be believed or not.

2012 The Sound Of The Apocalypse

Posted by End Of The World Predictions on August 5, 2012 at 4:25 AM

Many people all over the world in places like Australia, Hungary, Russia, the Czech Republic, Costa Rica and the UK have reported strange eirie sounds that some have been referred to as "The Sound of the Apocalpyse".  From mid 2011 through 2012 there has been an increase in reporting of these strange sounds.

Are these"apocalyptic sounds" part of the lead up to a December 21, 2012doomsday?  What part if any do they play in an end of the world doomsday prediction?

Conspiracy theorists have suggested that this may have something to do with HAARP technology.  HAARP stands for High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program. The goal of HAARP is to "further advance our knowledge of the physical and electrical properties of the Earth's ionosphere". It has been suggested that by heating up the ionosphere HAARP  is able to trigger earthquakes, so why not strange sounds.

Another suggestion is that these strange sounds are simply the result of a hoax.  There are plenty of hoax sounds out there onYouTube but are they there just for the heck of it or are they there to cover something up?  Is this misiformation to poison the well so to speak and confuse a good answer that may be out there.  We'll consider one such answer in just a moment.

Or could these humming sounds that have been described as being like trumpets, actually be a foretaste of a future fulfillment of prophecy about the trumpet God that the Bible says will sound from the heavens before he "raptures" believers to eternal glory?  More on that later also.

But first, we will consider what well known scientist Dr. Elchin Khalilov says about these apocalypic sounds.  He believes that these sounds of the apocalypse are not a hoax but real sounds that have a real explanation.   His explanation is worth considering.

Dr. Khalilov saysthat most of these "apocalyptic sounds" come from the infrasound range and that people are only hearing a fraction of the actual real power of these powerful sounds.  These strange sounds are known as acoustic-gravity waves and form in the upper atmosphere (at the boundary between the upper atmosphere and the ionosphere).  Dr. Khalilov says that causes for these acoustic-gravity waves can include earthquakes, hurricanes, storms,  volcanic activity and tsunamis.

He adds that the full range of the humming sounds (some describe as a trumpet sound) which are heard cannot however be  explained by sounds from the infrasound range and must come from something more powerful.  The souce of such powerful acoustic-gravity waves needs to come from a larger scale source of energy processes such as solar flares.  When the flow of energy in the form of coronal mass ejections (a solar wind of highly charged particles of electromagnetic radiation which often accompanies a solar flare) charges towards the earth, it destabalises the ionosphere, the magnetosphere and the upper attmosphere.

The impact of shock waves from the solar wind are the main causes of acoustic-gravitation waves.  In other words, the so-called sounds of the apocalypse are caused by solar flares. Solar flare activity increased since mid 2011 (as did reports of strange sounds) and The International Committee on GEOCHANGE says it is expected to continue through 2012 and right up to 2013-14.   Dr. Khalilove believes there is a probability that there will be a corresponding rise in 'apocalyptic sounds' during this time...

So this doesn't look like it fits into a December 21, 2012 doomsday.

Dr. Khalilove hasalso said that the cause of these sounds may be related to activity in the earth's core.  Activity in the inner and outer core cause earth's geomagnetic field and the drift in the earth's magnetic pole which increased between 1998 to 2003.

Also worthy of consideration is that fact that on November 15 2011, a powerful gravitational impulse was registered by all ATROPATENA geophysical stations at approximately the same time. These stations record three-dimensional variations of the Earth's gravitational field and are located in Istanbul, Kiev, Baku, Islamabad and Yogyakarta. It is believed that this kind of phenomenon would only be possible if the source of the impulse was at the Earth's core level. It is thought that this impulse in the earth's core at the end of 2011 indicated the start of a new active phase in the earth's core activity.

This change inthe earth's core, Dr. Khalilove says, can influence (control) the geomagneticfield around the earth.  This would happen through a series of connected physical processes at the ionosphere -atmosphere boundary level.  As a result, acoustic-gravity waves in the form of terrifying low-frequency sounds would begenerated in different locations around the earth.

Thus, "The Sound of the Apocalypse" he believes, is caused by acoustic-gravity wavesand these in turn are caused by powerful forces such as solar flares andactivity in the earth's core.  Dr. Khalilove believes that since therefore, there has been a significant recent change in the earth's internal energy source, we should not be surprised that there would be a significant rise  in the number of strong earthquakes, volcanic eruptions tsunami's and extreme weather peaking in 2013-14.

Finally, we have an interesting verse in the Bible that says in 1 Corinthians 15:52, "in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed."

If you have read our Satan's Rapture blogs, you will have discovered that Satan has a focus on producing counterfeits so that when biblical prophecy is fulfilled, he has an alternative explanation (delusion) to offer to the world.  It is not inconceivable that Satan may use  what to all appearances seems like a natural phenomenon (or to some a HAARP phenomenon) to explain a divine event.  Anything that will take people's eyes away from the fulfillment of biblical prophecy.

Or maybe thesounds we are hearing are the sound of trumpets being tuned for this apocalyptic event.  Could the be a divine audio window into the eternal, a spiritual dimension?

Whatever these sounds may be (and I believe that Dr. Khalilov offers a good explanationn), "The Sound of the Apocalypse" is at least something to give us cause to consider that maybe there is a another dimension to existence in this universe and that one day it will be made fully known to us.

End Of The World 2012 - Doomsday Party

Posted by End Of The World Predictions on July 11, 2012 at 6:10 AM

I've been thinking, which can sometimes get me into trouble, that we should be planning a party for December 21, 2012.   Or should that be December 22, 2012.  What do you think?

By now most know that 2012 is not the end of the world but let’s make the day rock anyway.  What if this website got the most visits on December 21, 2012 than all the other 2012 doomsday websites!   Impossible?  Maybe not.  We’ve had over 100,000  visits in just five days and over 46,000 in only one day!!!  Let’s aim for 100,000 plus visits in one day.  Scratch that; let’s go for 250,000 visits in one day.

Of course this is a marketing strategy.   I believe this site has something to offer that other sites do not and I’m always looking for ways to get the message out.   For most of 2010-11 this site was number 1 on page 1 of a Google.com search for “end of the world 2012” and because of that, a lot of people were helped.

Here’s what one person wrote: “lately I have a lots of worries,. struggling in my mind that 2012"the end of the world is coming .. but as i read this article.,, worries are gone!”

Another said: “This website gave me a peace of mind... after my friends discussed about the end of the world in 2012, I kept on thinking about it, and started to worried myself and ruined my sleep especially after work (since I'm so much affected, and away from my family).  So annoying!  Anyway thank you for this one, it gave me a BIG RELIEF”

As you can see there are still people “out there” who are freaked, panicked and confused about whether December 21, 2012 is the end of the world or not.  This is an opportunity for you to help get the truth out and to celebrate at the same time, that December 21, 2012 is not the end of the world.

As I write this, there are 162 days left till December 21, 2012.   That means we don’t have long to put our party plans into action.  So, are you in?

Here’s my suggestion (you can add yours by way of comments to this blog): between now and December 21, 2012, start leaving the following link everywhere you go on the Internet, on forums, in emails, post to Facebook, write it on a piece of paper and give to a work mate, use your imagination…    Here’s the link: www.endoftheworld2012.net

Here’s two more ways you can help us with the biggest 2012 doomsday: subscribe to this blog and sign up as a member of this website… both are free.

OK, that’s it – party on... time to invite your friends.  And don’t forget to leave your suggestions by posting your comments to this blog.  You don’t need to be a member.  You can start by leaving your blog comment now.  Do you agree, disagree, have a suggestion or a question, even a random comment?

I’m looking forward to your post :)
