I was wondering who out there could correct my calculations concerning Katuns and Gregorian dates.
It is my understanding that katuns count backwards (or down) in this manner: 13 -11-9-7-5-3-1-12-10-8-6-4-2-13. Is this correct? If it is and we are currently in katun 4, why does everyone state that we will enter katun 13 next? What happened to katun 2?
Okay, the current Long Count will end at the solstice in 2012 but the Mayans believed in cycles not beginnings and ends. So the world will not end but civilization as we know it probably will as the new Long Count begins its 5200 year cycle. | |
