I used to sing a song when I was a kid that talked about hunger and war and opression in the world.  It asked the question why these things were happening.  I will always remember the words in the song that gave the answer as to why these things happened, "For there's not enough love to go round". 

I thank God that through Jesus Christ, there is love aplenty through his death on the cross for our sins.
