I think that the fact that you guys say that there's a god is ok. Iactually respect all religions. One think you dont convice me is, theheaven and hell thing. So you're saying, that even though we may liesometimes and think wrong, at the "judgement" day when we are infrontGOD which "it may be a person in the "sky" " he will be like OH SO youlied this day and you knew it , you're going to HELL! So the nextperson comes along and they lied also, and everyone in this PLANET haslied as far as human goes... it could have been at school unconsiouslyor consiously and then you ask GOD FORGIVE ME,... So are you guyssaying that GOD will really forgive when you ask for forgiveness evenif you and everyone in this planet has obviously lied more than once intheir life, and ask yourself a question, whoever did this page, orwhoever is reading this, or the people around you, ASK how many timeshave you lied... just that one question.. lied about anything, and youwill see how many human ME No way.. With all my respect to all point of views, but you are very precious to God, and thst's why he created you, so it doesn't make any sence to cast you to hell for a lie, because simply if you've lied once, sure you've done some good deeds, whatever they are, but they count (think of it as algebric sum, psitives and negatives)

besides, Allah is the most merciful and most generous, in my religion Islam (and sure for the rest of the religions) if you have sinned and made what you've made with sorrow and with regret, it could be taken out of your book bad deeds (book of sins), while if you made a good deed it is multiplied by 10.

I am talking from my own background (Islamic), but I am sure that the same sence is available in all religions.

WILL YOU GO TO HELL JUST FOR TELLING A LIE?

There is a verse in the Bible that says, "The heart is deceiptful above all things and desparetly corrupt, who can understand it."  The implied but unspoken answer is, "No one".  You could add, "Not even myself".

Can you understand the reasons for everything you do and say and think?  I know I can't.  But I do know that I sometimes consciously make excuses for the things I do, say and even think.  I have this conflict: on the one hand, I have just excused myself for something wrong (trying to convince myself that it wasn't that bad, really).

On the other hand, my own conscience condemns me.  Anyone know I'm talking about here?  Of course you do!  Well, if there are times when we know we are deceiving ourselves, what about those times when we do not know we are deceiving ourselves.  After all, isn't that the nature of deception.  When it's happening, you don't know because, well, you're being deceived.

Every deception has to do with the corruption of truth, even in just a small way.  So every deception is actually a lie!  How many times a day do you think you lie to yourself (we haven't  even begun to consider lying to others).  5, 10, 20, 50.

OK, what about lies to others?  Be honest (if you can).  We lie when we try to make ourselves look better than we are; or when we exaggerate to make a story more exciting; or  say we would never do a certain thing when we know we would or have; or we agree with the popular person just to win their favour when we don't actually agree at all; or we lie to cover up something.   The list goes on.....

All the time you are reading this, there is a battle going on.  Do I admit this is true or do I tell another lie and try to deceive myself that it is not.  Self-deception runs deep.

If you're honest (that's telling the truth) how many times do you think you lie, fib, exaggerate, decieve, withhold the truth, bend the truth, tell a white lie, make out something is true but is not, in just one day?  We're just talking about 1 day here.  Let's not get too carried away, yet.

I'm going to be really generous here, despite the damning evidence, and suggest that  perhaps you may only tell 5 lies a day.  That's either in your thoughts, words or both.  Just 5!

Now consider this.  5 times 365 days in a year = 1,825 lies!

That should concern you.

Take those 1,825 lies now and multiply them by 60 years and that's 109,500 lies!!!!!

It's true, God will not sent you to hell just because you just told one lie.

Would you like me to list all the other unholy things we think, say and do and multiply that by 109,500?

Add to this the fact that we are sinful and God is Holy and what we call good is often an unclean thing to God.  As sinners it is hard for us to fully comprehend how filthy our lives are in the eyes of God who alone is Holy (Perfect, Pure).  It would not be unreasonable to suggest that in an average lifetime we actually commit well over 1 billion sins.  Well over that.

If you were to name all 1 billion of your sins by naming one every second, how long do you think it would take you to count them all up.

The answer is 31 years, 251 days, 7 hours, 46 minutes, and 39 seconds.

Do you now see why you need God's  forgiveness and why the only way you will get to heaven is to throw yourself at the mercy of God.

Does that help you see how merciful and generous God actually is that he has provided a way for you to escape the just penalty of eternal hell for all your sin?

I would like to answer this question with God's words from the Bible. For an indepth study of God's salvation plan as is explained in the Bible read "I hope God will save me" along with "To God be the glory". These books are free or can be read online at  http://www.familyradio.comFor all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God. Ro 3:23

A lie is just one sin of many sin's we all commit starting at our birth. The wicked are estranged from the womb: they go astray as soon as they be born, speaking lies. Ps 58:3

If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. I Jn 1:10

And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. I Jn2:3-4

OK so we are all sinners, but what will God do to all of these dirty rotten sinners?  For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Ro 6:23

Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die. The soul that sinneth, it shall die. Eze 18:4&20 When an unsaved person dies he is dead both body and soul and will never come to a conscious existence again. This is the portion of a wicked man with God, and the heritage of oppressors, which they shall receive of the Almighty. If his children be multiplied, it is for the sword: and his offspring shall not be satisfied with bread. Those that remain of him shall be buried in death: and his widows shall not weep. Job 27:13-15   For more information: http://www.wecanknow.com   I pray this information will be helpful.

Hi again Bible Truth.  I see that you have referred to Harrold Camping's book, "To God Be The Glory".  What people who read your post will not know is that this book does not glorify God because in it Camping says, "Thus when Jesus went to the cross, He was not there to pay for our sins"  !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You began you post by saying that you would like to answer the question from God's Word.  But all that you have done is referred people to the damnable heresies of a man who denies the central truth of the Bible that Jesus paid for our sins by his death on a cross (Colossians 1:14, Romans 3:24).

We have all been taught many things in the past by the spiritual leaders in the churches. Most of them aren't true to the Bible. God corrects us as we study His Word if it His pleasure to do so.

All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 2 Ti 3:16

Hi Bible Truth, that's a very general statement that MOST of the things taught by Christian leaders aren't true to the Bible.  This is not a statement that is easy to back up.  When you say that God corrects us as we  study His Word, that is something that can be backed up and you give a helpful verse to support this.

However, if you are suggesting by this that  when Christian leaders in the Church (today and down through the last 2,000) taught that Jesus died for our sins, they were wrong..... then I would have to say that this is NOT "true to the Bible."  Here's why...

I have already quoted Colossians 1:4 above but here is what it says, "In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:" (Colossians 1:4).  Clearly, forgiveness of sins is provided for through the shedding of Jesus blood.  This resulted in Jesus death.  Harold Camping teaches that Jesus did NOT die for our SINS

The following Scripture is even more emphatic,

"For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance : that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures," (1 Corinthians 15:3)

However, Harold Camping teaches that Jesus did NOT die for our SINS

I have just used the Scriptures for correction of that false doctrine.  Jesus DID die for our sins.  The Bible says so in clear, simple words that do not need a Greek scholar to interpret.

The apostle Paul, whom God inspired to write nearly half of the New Testament of the Bible, said this, "As we said before, so say I now again, If any [man]preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him beaccursed."  (Galatians 1:9)

Harold Camping teaches that Jesus did NOT die for our SINS

Camping is most definetly preaching another gospel because he  denies what the Apostle Paul says is of the "FIRST IMPORTANCE: that Christ died FOR OUR SINS [emphasis mine] according to the Scriptures"

Harold Camping denies a doctrine which the Holy Word of God says is of first importance!

Harold Camping therefore is a heretic, accursed of God!

The same person God used to write that Jesus died for our sins also says that if another gospel is  taught, the person who teaches it is accursed of God.

And yes, God will send you to hell for telling lies.

However, if Harold Camping were to repent of his heresy and believe the gospel as it is presented very simply in the Bible (Jesus death for our sins), then he will by the grace of God, be saved.  Such is the grace of God.

I personally do not believe in the bible, heaven or hell but I do think that everyone has the right to have beliefs in what they want to believe in. I believe in science not religion I am sorry if this offends some of you but I believe in what we have scientifically proved.

What I do find interesting is that so many religions coinside with science when it comes to 2012.
